Excited for the Mornings

There's something about the morning that makes everything okay. I'm not sure if it's the sun shining in the bedroom, a crisp cool breeze blowing when I wake up, or just that's it's a brand new day. Maybe, it's another chance for opportunities, fresh blessings, and an new excitement for how the day will shake out.

A good night's sleep helps to clear my mind and waking up hearing the birds chirping outside my window makes me think how it's the simple things in life that bring the most joy. Mornings seems to make any disappointments that happened the day before go far, far away. I spend my mornings usually with some quiet time praying and going over my to-do list for the day. Everyday there are new projects and deadlines for me to tackle and there are two things I can't go without: (a) my prayer time; and (b) a light breakfast.

Praying in the Mornings gets my Day off to a Good Start

Having a relationship with Jesus is the most important thing to me and it's like air, without it you can't live. I need His guidance with work, our business, my personal life and health...everything. I'm not an early morning person like hubby is and so having this quiet time for myself is essential for my attitude. I start off just thanking Him for the many blessings I have and for the people He's given me because life is hard enough...you don't need to face it alone. I also thank Him for good health cause I pay more attention to that now that I'm in my 50s.

I pray for family, friends, and people I don't know that Jesus will meet their needs and keep them safe. I then talk about my upcoming day and ask Him to be with me, help me make sound decisions and I bring my concerns before Him. Once I end my prayer time, I feel so much better. I know it's because I've talked through what's on my mind instead of keeping it inside.

I follow that up with a light breakfast consisting of a bowl of cereal with some fruit or I might have bacon and a hash brown. It's just enough to give me energy to start work but not too much that I crash before lunchtime.

Another thing I'm so grateful for in the mornings and that is to work from my home studio. I dress for work as I would if I worked outside the house but it just feels so free to not have to go somewhere and be there for 8 to 10 hours a day everyday.

With my schedule, I can tweak it a bit if need be. If I have some personal business to take care of, I don't have to get excused or get someone to back me up while I'm away. I'm in a comfortable atmosphere in my home. If I don't feel well, I don't have to call in sick and take time off. I can just take a short nap and go back to work later. Working from home isn't for everybody but for me, it's golden!

I appreciate the mornings so much more now than ever!
