Embracing Good Friendships

Growing up on the south side of Chicago didn't offer a lot of chances to make friends. I didn't have any sisters and I always wanted one or a very best friend. It was lonely at times and so I think that's why I drew comic books. I could make up my own characters for I loved to imagine and even day dream.

But, the comic books could never take the place of having real friendships. There's no price tag on a good, genuine friend. They are as rare as gems. I have a few really good friends now and life wouldn't be the same without them. And as we're coming up on Easter, I must say that I'm thankful for my very, very best friend...Jesus. There's certainly no one like Him.

When I'm afraid, lonely, upset, confused even...I can pray to Him for help. He lives and is alive forevermore (Revelation 1:8). He cares for me (1 Peter 5:7), He leads me through the mazes of life (Psalm 23:3). David said it best in Psalm 116:1: "I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications."

He's the friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). Have you ever been closer to a friend than a biological relative? Sometimes our true friends are not blood related. Today and everyday I'm so grateful to have The Lord Jesus in my life. In all my weaknesses, and I have a lot of them!, He helps me, strengthens and encourages me. And, I'm forever grateful for the friends He's given to me...they help make life interesting, fun, and worth living.
